Portable appliance testing (PAT):
Portable appliance testing is vital to protect your business and its employees. We aim to give the best PAT testing service in the North of England to enable our customers to fulfil their obligations with regard to equipment safety. Electrical safety obligations are not limited to businesses, of course; landlords are also responsible for ensuring the regular testing of all appliances they provide for their tenants. All portable appliances with mains plug need testing.
This includes:
We are specialists in the testing of all IT equipment. We use the latest PAT equipment to test both 230V and 110V appliances and, as specialists in PAT testing, we are best placed to help you comply with your legal obligations.
Why PAT Test?
Whilst PAT testing is not strictly compulsory, it is generally regarded as being the best way of meeting the electrical regulations that exist to protect employees, customers and tenants. Without it you could be in a very difficult situation if an electrical accident were to occur.
All portable electrical equipment is subject to getting damaged during use, and this damage could render the equipment dangerous to the user. Without a regular programme of testing and inspection, you have not taken reasonable steps to ensure the safety of users.Tests and inspections should be made at reasonable and regular intervals, bearing in mind the rate of use of both portable and fixed appliances.
Failure to comply with the Electrical Regulations may constitute a criminal offence under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 which carries a maximum penalty on summary conviction of a £5,000 fine and/or 6 months imprisonment. Landlords and letting agents could also be sued in Civil Law under the duty of care for failure to ensure the tenants safety and and, as a result, face punitive damages.
Q. How much will it cost?
Our pricing is based on a cost per appliance. Price list is available online under the heading PRICE LIST or click here SAVE me ££££.
Q. Are there any additional costs?
The only additional costs are for the supply and/or fitting of materials or minor repairs to appliances so that they pass the testing, e.g. new plug top, correctly rated fuse, rewiring plug top etc. These are detailed on our price list.
Q. We have 1000's of bits of equipment. Does this mean that we get reams of worthless paper that takes ages to manage?
No. With software management programme we can supply all your test results and appliance register to you either on CD, or by email direct. You can even add notes to each appliance so if it goes offsite for repair or is serviced you can keep track of such information.
This electronic data can be provided instead of or in addition to hard copies of reports, which are produced as standard, and sent from our Office following completion of testing. These reports include a full Appliance Register, Fail Certificates (if applicable) and Pass Certificates, and are bound into a folder for ease of reference. You will also receive a covering Display Certificate.
